During its pilot year in August 2022, OriginAL gathered 40 young people from the diaspora to help them find their Albanian heritage.
OriginAL began in Pristina and concluded in Tirana, providing almost two weeks for young diaspora members to explore their country of origin from a different perspective.
On the final day of OriginAL, we conducted a survey. We found that 92% of the participants reported that “this journey helped to connect with their Albanian roots.”
While in Kosovo, they were able to gain a deeper understanding of the fight for freedom.
OriginALs had the chance to explore several places, including Prekazi, Mitrovica, and Gjakova, which played a significant role in Kosovo’s fight for freedom.
Throughout OriginAL, they encountered individuals directly impacted by the war. Notably, they had the chance to hear the poignant testimony of Mother Ferdonije in Gjakova.
On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence, we are delighted to announce that other young diaspora members will also have the chance to partake in this enriching experience.
